If you have a certain theme in mind, or particular plant preferences regarding colours, shape, or fragrance, we can provide a range of relevant botanical options for you.
PLANT REMOVAL
Some plants in you garden may require more attention than others, as they may not be as adaptable or tolerant to certain conditions in your garden. Removing unsuitable plants can improve overall plant health, water efficiency, and garden aesthetics.
PLANT ESTABLISHMENT
Once you are happy with the plants selected, we will ensure suitable positioning for optimum drainage, nutrient uptake, environmental conditions, and garden tolerance.

MULCH APPLICATION
To achieve the benefits of mulch, it is essential to get the type and amount of mulch correct, depending on your garden aspect, plant tolerance, and environmental conditions.
ORGANIC MULCH
Plant based mulches like compost, sugarcane, pea straw, woodchips, and bark will decompose and release nutrients into the soil, improving its overall structure.
INORGANIC MULCH
Rocks and gravel won't add any organic matter to your soil, but they are important and valuable considerations for people living in fire prone areas.
SOIL CONDITIONING
Compost, lucerne hay, and straw mulches are great choices to help condition your soil, as their organic matter breaks down quickly.
LANDSCAPE FABRICS
These can be effective in suppressing weeds, but we do not recommend their use, as they can often result in suffocating your soil.

PLANT DIVERSITY
There are endless choices when it comes to selecting plants for your garden. You may just want to increase the diversity in your garden by adding a few new species or you may be wanting to introduce a whole new theme. (Example: Natives, flowers, ground cover, herbs, cacti, succulents, tropical plants, desert plants, climbers, fragrance.)
PLANT ESTABLISHMENT
We will ensure suitable positioning for optimum drainage, nutrient uptake, and garden tolerance.
REPOSITIONING
Some of your most favoured plants may not be placed in an optimal growing position. We are happy to remove the plant and re-establish a more appropriate position.
WILDLIFE SUPPORT
A diverse garden will attract diverse animals. Selecting a large variety of plants can help attract different pollinators, insects, birds, and other desired wildlife. (See below, for information on bee and insect hotels).
WHAT IS A BEE HOTEL?
Bee and insect hotels act much like a bird house or bird bath. For solitary bees that do not dwell in hives, they provide refuge out of the elements, and a safe place to nest.
WHY DO WE NEED THEM?
Not all bees live in social groups, produce honey, or live in hives. Excluding our most commonly know Native Stingless Bees (Tetragonula and Austroplebeia), over 99% of our Australian Native Bees are non-social or semi-social, and do not dwell in hives. These solitary bees do not produce honey, but they are excellent and vital pollinators. Bees in Australia are said to contribute to 75% of our food crops, via pollination. They are vital to our ecosystem and food security. Buying or making your own bee hotel can be a fun and easy way to provide a little extra support for our desired insects and wildlife, whose homes have been impacted by human activities.
WHERE IS THE BEST POSITION FOR A BEE HOTEL?
A bee hotel is best positioned in a warm, sunny, and slightly sheltered spot. You want to ensure its placement is out of the elements (wind, rain), at least one meter off the ground.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF INTRODUCING A BEE HOTEL INTO YOUR GARDEN?
Bee Hotels can deliver a multitude of benefits to your garden, your home life, and the bees themselves. They are great ways of encouraging and increasing pollination in your garden, thus establishing more plant diversity in general. They can also be great educational and recreational tools for families and their children. And most importantly, they provide refuge and support for our Native Bees, who need our help now, more than ever.
